I’m new at online shopping and am a little nervous about shopping online.

Do you know you can book vacations and flights and even concert tickets from some sites now and take advantage of great savings while you are able to comparison shop? Online is truly the way to go, and we would love to help you take advantage of it.

Why do I need to open an account to make a purchase?

Time Well Spent Gifts is an e-commerce website, meaning we do sales through it. As an e-commerce site we use an approved template that automatically requires information to process a sale. It is not so much an account as just pertinent information. Some we store, like your name, address and email address and some we use simply for the actual single purchase transaction, like your credit card information.

We may contact you from time to time with an e-newsletter to let you know about a sale, promotion or some industry information (of course you can always opt out if you prefer). However we will not share this information with any other party, unless required to do so by governing laws.

What sales taxes are charged?

In Canada

Purchases shipped to British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec and Prince Edward Island will be charged Goods and Services Tax (GST) only, currently 5%.

Purchases shipped within Ontario will be charged GST and Provincial Sales Tax (PST), currently 8%.

Purchases shipped to Newfoundland, Labrador and Nova Scotia will be charged the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST), currently 13%.

Outside of Canada

In Canada we have to charge retail sales taxes on items consumed or used in Canada. Therefore gifts purchased by customers outside of Canada but shipped to any Canadian destination will be taxed at the rates shown for each province.

Any purchases destined for shipment outside of Canada will NOT be charged any sales taxes.

However each country has their own customs and duty regulations and the purchaser will be responsible for any applicable fees.

Will I be charged duty sending something to the United States?

The recipient is liable for paying any duty applicable. Duty free non-gift purchase mailed to the US will pass duty-free if their value does not exceed $200. A gift has a $100.00 exemption limit. The package must clearly be marked “gift” in the shipping mandate. We try very hard to respect everyone’s privacy; however we have to clearly identify the product, place of origin and value on each international shipping document.

What kind of payment options will you accept?

Time Well Spent Gifts accepts MasterCard and Visa credit cards.

As an online store, we limit cash and debit card purchases to customers who can physically pick up their purchases. We don’t have a brick and mortar store, but we are always available to meet with customers and welcome them into our office to pick up their purchase if they prefer. Simply call us at 1.866.707.0185 or email brenda@timewellspentgifts.com to arrange it before you make your purchase so that Canada Post charges are not automatically applied.

Why do you only use Canada Post to do your shipping?

We use Canada Post exclusively because they are currently the most reasonable shipping method in Canada. We use two of their services when shipping within Canada:
Expedited Parcel (next day or up to 7 days depending on where the parcel is going.
Xpresspost (next day or up to 2 days depending on where the parcel is going.
We use two of Canada Post and its partner USPS when shipping to the United States
*Expedited Parcel – USA (6 to 12 days)
*Xpresspost – USA (3 to five days)
We use two of Canada Post services shipping to other International Locations
*Xpresspost – International (4-7 days)
*International Surface Parcel (4 – 6 weeks)

*It is important that clients realize that this is the anticipated shipping times, as published by Canada Post. HOWEVER, we can not control customs organizations and they can take up to 2 weeks to release anything going into their country.

When I make a change to my Shopping Cart why do I have to re-enter my credit information?

We are extremely security conscious, even if we are a small online business, relatively speaking. A large mega-online store can afford all the bells and whistles. A small online store needs to give up those bells and whistles to ensure that security is never compromised. So we will not store/maintain any credit information on our site. The best way to guarantee that is that we only accept the credit information once you have confirmed your purchase. Yes it takes a little longer, however it is well worth it, to give you that extra peace of mind.

What is the difference between “Search” and “Advanced Search”?

You can search for a product, brand or designer by simply entering word(s) in the “Search” box at the top of the page at any time. If you want to select a price range or a category you can add this additional information in the “Advanced Search” box in the left column. It is just a way to make things a little easier.
